Pecan pie is one of our favorite holiday pie recipes, and we’ve experimented with every variation we could think of throughout the years. We’ve tasted pecan pies with chocolate, maple syrup, molasses, brown sugar, white sugar, and corn syrup, so we’ve had lots of opportunities to sample and choose our favorites. Which takes us to the pioneer pecan pie. Aside from having a catchy moniker, that is also the name we’ve given to our no-corn-syrup pecan pie.
We’re not sure why corn syrup got so popular in pecan pies; it’s unnecessary! With brown sugar, white sugar, butter, and eggs, this has the delightfully crisp and crunchy top layer as well as the ooey-gooey bottom layer that we love so much about pecan pie.
It has a full depth of taste that we enjoy, and you can eat at least two slices without feeling cloying (thanks, salt!).We might retire all of our other pecan pie recipes because this one is so delicious! Plus, this is a simple recipe that anyone can make, so don’t be intimidated; your pioneer pecan pie is about to be a crowd favorite!
