Hawaiian Shredded Chicken

Say “Aloha” to your new favorite slow cooker dish: Hawaiian Shredded Chicken! This dish blends sweet and sour crushed pineapple with a few other ingredients, like BBQ sauce, soy sauce, and garlic, to make a flavorful fall-apart chicken. Prepare it in the morning and cook it slowly all day. Simple as that, dinner is ready to go! Grab some buns and coleslaw to make a great sandwich, or serve a substantial portion over a bowl of rice; either way, it will be a smash.

This recipe is quite simple to prepare. Begin by adding the chicken breasts to the slow cooker. Then add all of the sauce ingredients, a can of crushed pineapple, and some thinly sliced yellow onion. Mix it well to properly coat the chicken, then set your slow cooker to low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours (I recommend low if you have time!). Allow the slow cooker to work its magic, and don’t open the lid until the time is up!

When the chicken is thoroughly cooked, it’s time to shred. I like to do this with two large forks, splitting the breast into bite-sized pieces and letting the meat soak up all of the delicious sauce. Simple as that, your Hawaiian Shredded Chicken is ready to serve! Whether you’re feeding a crowd or just meal planning for the week, this delectable dish will quickly become a staple in your dinner rotation.
