A man went to the dentist to find out how much it would cost to extract a tooth. “$100,” the dentist replied. “Oh, that’s expensive,” the man replied. “Do you have anything cheaper?” “That’s the normal price for an extraction,” stated the dentist. “What about if you don’t use the anesthetic?” the man muses. “Well, that’s uncommon, but we could do it. It would cost roughly $75.

The man thinks some more. “What about if you used a trainee and no anesthetic?” “Well,” remarked the dentist, “I believe that could work, but it would be much more uncomfortable. “I believe that would be around $35.” The man pondered some more. “It’s still a lot. What if you make it a training session, with one student performing the extraction while the other students observe?”
The dentist responds, “Okay, that would be beneficial to the students, but it would be traumatic to have it done that way. “I will charge you $5 for that.” “Great,” said the man. “That’s perfect,” … “Book my wife in for tomorrow!”
