I kicked my stepmother out of my father’s house for my wedding.

I wanted to have my wedding in my father’s backyard. I requested my stepmother not to attend because Mom is uncomfortable. She asked, “Are you kicking me out of my house? Be grateful that I’m welcoming you!” I informed her that this was MY dad’s house, not hers.

On the big day, she wasn’t there, and everything felt fine–until I realized my father had departed. I investigated my stepsister’s and stepbrother’s rooms, but they were both gone. When I walked to the backyard, I learned that practically all of the guests from my father’s side had not attended the ceremony. When I phoned my father, he stated, “If you disrespect my wife of 15 years in her home like this, you can forget having me there as well!”

Enjoy the day with the individuals you’ve chosen. I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that my stepmother had spoiled my most significant day. She manipulated my father, and that irritates me the most. I had fewer guests than expected due to the absence of my father and half-siblings, which made the day miserable. I feel punished for wanting to celebrate my wedding in the way I had envisioned.
