Deaf singer Mandy Harvey has won the hearts of the public and the judges, so much so that Simon Cowell has advanced her to the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent. The 29-year-old has stated that she gradually lost her hearing until she was fully deaf at the age of 18 while attending college, and she has since had to relearn how to sing using vibrations.

Mandy sang an original song titled “Try” throughout the show, which elicited acclaim from both the audience and the jury. When she concluded the song, Cowell said, “I don’t think you’ll need an interpreter for what I’m about to say” and hit the button that advanced her to the semi-finals. “That was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen or heard,” exclaimed Mandy, ecstatic.
