These Areas Are Under Immediate Threat Amid Pacific Palisades Fire

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the Palisades Fire, which started on January 7, 2025, on Palisades Drive in Pacific Palisades, is still out of control and showing no signs of slowing down. The brush fire started at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and had burned 200 acres by 12:30 p.m., according to the initial KTLA report. Furthermore, according to CAL FIRE, the fire has expanded to 1,262 acres and is fully uncontrolled. Firefighting is becoming increasingly difficult as gusts gusting up to 60 mph continue to fuel the fires.

Authorities have warned that towns in the area are in dire danger due to the fire’s peculiar nature, which includes spotting over long distances. Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency to assist areas affected by the Palisades Fire in response to the rising threat. He advised individuals to remain aware, exercise caution, and follow emergency protocols.

To contain the fire, firefighters from the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and CAL FIRE are working tirelessly. To stop its spread and save lives, property, and infrastructure, both ground and air resources are being used. As the Palisades Fire expands, community people are stepping forward to aid with evacuation and firefighting efforts. Steve Guttenberg from “Police Academy” is one of them.

Guttenberg, wearing a facemask, asked residents parking on Palisades Drive to leave their keys behind. “This isn’t a parking lot.” We urgently need folks to move their vehicles. If you leave your car behind, leave the key in there so that someone like me can move it so that the fire engines can get up there,” he stated. The 66-year-old actor described how his friends and other residents have found it difficult to depart owing to traffic congestion on the street. He said that he was going up the slope to clear the path and reposition cars.
