“I am literally about to cry. “Mostly because of that beautiful welcome,” she said, responding to the audience’s ovation. One ardent fan in the audience even exclaimed, “You’re beautiful!” She continued through tears, “As you know, where I reside is currently on fire. “The entire city of Pacific Palisades is on fire.”

She stated how she recognized the gravity of the situation: “I flew here last night. I was on the plane and started receiving texts. And it’s f**king gnarly, guys. It’s simply a tragedy in Southern California.”

Curtis voiced her grief for those affected, saying, “Clearly, there have been awful fires in many locations. This is exactly where I live. Everything. I shop in this market. My children’s schools. Friends, many, many, many friends have lost their homes.”

Made a passionate plea.
With the weight of the disaster obvious in her voice, she promised to return to Los Angeles as soon as possible. “So it is—that’s a pretty bad scenario. I am clearly going to go home first thing tomorrow and spend time with my family and attempt to support my friends.”

Curtis then made an emotional appeal to the crowd, imploring them to support the American Red Cross. “If you know anyone on the West Coast or not, please support the American Red Cross.” They’ll come in and help individuals. Do anything you can. Anything you can do in your community to help others, whether you need it right now or not, will come in handy. Donate blood, anything.

As an American Red Cross ambassador, Curtis used the occasion to emphasize the need of being prepared. “Have an emergency kit with prescription glasses, medicines, dog food, baby formula, all the things you need if you have to flee.”She later published a devastating Instagram post depicting the burnt remains of her favorite church in Pacific Palisades. “This is the church in the Palisades that had a beautiful Sunday school and school and was a gorgeous house of worship and is the building that I got sober in 25 years ago,” she wrote on her blog.

Pondering its significance, she said: “I think of all of the souls who came there for comfort and solace and all the baptisms and funerals and weddings and the thousands of people who reclaimed their lives through sobriety.”

Wants to be with her family.. Curtis, who has two kids, Ruby, 25, and Annie, 34, with her husband, screenwriter Christopher Guest, reaffirmed her desire to return home to be with her family and assist those affected. “It’s a really awful situation,” she stated. “I am going home tomorrow to be with my family and try to help my friends.”
