A Kitchen Fail Became Full-Blown Family Drama

I never got along with my DIL, but I had to invite her to a family event. She brought a pie. “I made it just for you,” she added, smiling. The pie tasted weird, so I took a closer look, and my blood raced cold: it contained a piece of plastic wrap.

My DIL smiled sheepishly and confessed, “I made it from a ready-to-use mix… I was too busy to bake from scratch.” I couldn’t believe it: she had lied about making it herself. I felt a surge of rage, not just because of the pie, but because it appeared that she never took our family events seriously.

My husband attempted to laugh it off, but I couldn’t shake the sensation that she had mistreated me yet again.
