When Tom Hanks’ MAGA-wearing ‘Doug’ character appeared on Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special, it enraged Trump supporters. Celebrities from across the world gathered in New York on Sunday, February 16, to celebrate Saturday Night Live’s milestone birthday. Many celebrities attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the sketch comedy, including Meryl Streep, Martin Short, Jack Nicholson, and Aubrey Plaza.

Hanks also attended the event, and the actor appeared in a comedy that has sparked controversy among Trump fans. The Forrest Gump actor appeared on the parody game show Black Jeopardy as a man named Doug, wearing a red ‘Make America Great Again’ cap. Kenan Thompson, the host of the mock show, attempted to shake Doug’s hand during the act, but he initially declined.
Doug ultimately made the welcoming sign before exclaiming, “I don’t like that, whoa, whoa, whoa.” Maybe I’ll establish a show called White Jeopardy and invite you to appear.” After the sketch aired, many Trump fans turned to Twitter, and the vast majority were unimpressed. A different tweet stated: “Tom Hanks went on SNL dressed like a slob mocking millions of Trump supporters – portraying them as dumb, racist, rednecks.”
