Meghan Markle revealed in her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, that she had changed her name. The former actress, whose true name is Rachel Meghan Markle, has revealed that she goes by a different name in everyday life. The stunning fact was revealed during an interview with comedian and actress Mindy Kaling for her lifestyle show.
Many fans are surprised by the news, since they thought the former Suits star was still known as Meghan Markle. In response to Markle’s update, one reader responded, “Good Lord!” She wants the name but has no desire to be associated with the family. Another person wondered, “What happened to the quiet life she wanted to enjoy?”

“You walked away from the honor of having that gift of a name, and you can’t have it both ways,” said a third social media user. Others, meantime, have come to Markle’s rescue following her name change. One fan commented, “They hate you, but they can’t stop talking about you.” “The hate for Meghan Markle is ridiculous,” added another. “You’ve no real reason to hate her.”
Markle and Prince Harry married in 2018 and are now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The following year, they had a son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor, and a daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor, in 2021. The couple surprised the world by announcing their resignation as senior royals before welcoming Lilibet in 2020. There have been calls for Markle and Prince Harry to relinquish their titles as they have distanced themselves from royal duties.
The couple has kept their title, though, and Markle has since said that it bears special meaning for her. Markle retaliated against Kaling in With Love, Meghan after the actress constantly referred to her by her prior surname. “It’s also funny that you keep saying Meghan Markle,” the duchess added in the second episode of the show. “You know I’m Sussex now.” Markle added that it became more significant with the birth of her two children.

“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I should share my name with my children,'” she told me. “I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.'” In a recent interview with People magazine, Markle discussed why she and Prince Harry decided to keep Sussex as their last name.
“As the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?'” the duchess told the magazine. “I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now, a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex.” She said, “It means a lot to me.”
