A few weeks back, I decided to go dinner with a coworker. I rarely, if ever, dine out because it is so expensive these days, but I decided to indulge myself one night. My coworker ordered appetizers, beverages, a huge dinner, and dessert. When it came time to pay, we were both going to simply pay for our lunch, but she conveniently forgot her wallet and just sat there staring at me.

I’m an awkward person, and I didn’t want to cover her food at the time because it was more than I could afford, but it was such a strange scenario, and she promised to pay me back, so to conclude the evening, I covered her bill, expecting to be reimbursed.

That was weeks ago, and she still posts on Instagram and Snapchat about going out to fine restaurants or weekend excursions, but she always has an excuse when I ask for my money back. I barely make a livable wage, and being in debt because of her has given me a great deal of concern.
