Grandma, are you not sad at all?

Grandmothers, with their years of wisdom and life experience, frequently impress us with their fortitude and perseverance. They have a knack of standing up in difficult situations, demonstrating how great they truly are. Their quiet courage and consistent direction may turn even the most difficult situations around.

My grandmother did not cry once when my grandfather died. Not even during his funeral. She stood tall, a smile on her face. Confused, I asked her, “Grandma, are you not sad at all?”

She leaned in, winked, and added, “Your grandfather warned me that if anyone cried at his funeral, he would haunt us for the rest of our lives.” That’s how my grandfather wanted to be remembered—with joy, not sadness—and I think it’s great.
