Grace Fanelli of Florida, USA, took her children to the pool from a young age to help them feel comfortable in the water. Grace’s two girls have learnt to swim since they were nine months old, when most babies can barely crawl. Her eldest daughter is now three, while her youngest is barely a year old. They both look like true little mermaids!
The mother wanted to demonstrate her daughters’ outstanding skills and shared the video online. A baby of the same age demonstrates amazing dexterity by making confident strokes with her hands and feet and flipping over in the water without fear. It’s especially impressive given the footage was filmed only a few weeks after her first birthday!

The pleased mother, who watched her daughters while they were swimming, explained: „Drowning is the leading cause of death among infants and children under the age of five. Please train your children to swim so that they can save themselves or survive until help arrives. They both learnt to swim at the age of nine months with the assistance of Brigitte Strickland, our swimming instructor who specialized in newborns and children.”
Bridget herself stated this on her website: “Our children’s swimming lessons are based on a gentle and caring approach that focuses on creating a fun, positive experience for babies that will not only help them develop physically, but also emotionally, intellectually, and socially, while equipping them with key skills for safe behavior in the water.”

Those who saw the film were captivated by the independence and fortitude of such a little youngster, and many were inspired! They wrote this „This is truly great!” „How fantastic! I must say that while I was watching, I felt embarrassed about my swimming talents.” According to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ website, healthchildren.org, drowning is particularly common among newborns and young children:
“Drowning is the biggest cause of death in children, particularly newborns and young children. Most babies drown in bathtubs or buckets. Toddlers from one to four years old are most likely to drown in swimming pools. However, numerous youngsters in this age range drowned in ponds, rivers, and lakes.” As a result, these little girls’ love of water is even more beneficial! And we wouldn’t be surprised if swimming becomes their future job.
