Sometimes real life takes the most unexpected turns—those you’d expect to see exclusively in movies or programs. I took my crush out on a date. Everything was going wonderfully until she received a phone call. She turned pale and whispered, “I’m sorry! “I’ll be right back.”
Thirty minutes have passed. She never returned. The waitress aggressively responded, “Sir, you must leave. Now.” I assumed I’d been ghosted, but then I heard sirens.
I froze when I saw my date in an ambulance. I dashed over, scared, and inquired what was going on.

She had suddenly grown dizzy and fallen. A paramedic informed me that they had given her medication and that she was now doing better—but that she should avoid stress. She smiled weakly and assured me that she was OK and that I did not need to worry.
She then mentioned that she had a medical problem that causes dizziness when she is overly stressed. During our date, she received a call from work, informing her that she had made a significant mistake and would be laid off. The astonishment overtook her. I hugged her and made sure she was okay. After she was cleared to leave, I drove her home. We dated for a while after that.
