I honestly did not anticipate things taking such a turn. My MIL had always been active in our life, but once my son was born, she became weirdly infatuated with him. At first, I assumed it was just the thrill of having a new grandchild, but I soon discovered she knew far too much about his behaviors, including many aspects I hadn’t disclosed. He liked to sleep with his hand curled under his cheek, and quiet music helped him relax.

One evening, the video captured her entering the room after everyone else had gone to bed. When I saw what was coming, I froze. She was standing close to the cot and whispering to him. I couldn’t understand what she was saying at first, but then I heard it clearly: “You’re mine now. “You will never leave me.” After some time, she returned the infant and exited the room. I wasn’t sure what to think. I kept watching the footage, hoping to find some answer.
The next morning, I spoke with my husband. He looked concerned: “My mother lost a child many years ago. It was a tragedy that she has never truly recovered from. “She’s been carrying that pain with her all along.” I was stunned. I had never heard about her past. It found out that my baby, born years after the tragedy, had become an unborn child for her. She clung to him as if he could change the past, attempting to fill a hole in her heart that could never be repaired. It made me feel both sympathetic to her and concerned for my son.

Later that day, I decided to speak with her. “You can’t keep doing this,” I replied, my voice shaking. “You need help. This is not healthy. “He is my son, and you cannot keep him for yourself.” She glanced at me with a mix of confusion and hurt. “I don’t know how to stop,” she said softly. “I just don’t know how to let go.” Now I am torn. I feel her grief, but I’m terrified of what she might do. What shall I do?
