In 1983, a 16-pound enormous infant made headlines; today, he’s grown up and still stands out for his size.

Patricia Clarke, at 24, became pregnant with her second child in 1983. She wasn’t expecting her second child to be any smaller after having given birth to a huge child before. Having big kids runs in the family, but no one expected Kevin Robert Clark to break the record.

Kevin, now 40, weighed 16 pounds when he was born, making him the heaviest baby ever delivered at Community Memorial Hospital and maybe in the whole New Jersey area. Baby Kevin would not fit into regular baby clothes or a conventional baby crib. Most importantly, he was healthy, and that was all his parents cared about.

His weight was so incredible that he and his family made national headlines, including a skit on “Saturday Night Live” and a mention on “Good Morning America.” Kevin grew up to be a typical adolescent. According to The New York Post, he was 5 foot 7 when he was 12 years old.

He was 6 feet 5 inches tall by junior high. He didn’t stop there, though. On the contrary, he became even taller over time.”There isn’t a day that goes by when someone doesn’t ask me how tall I am,” Kevin told the Washington Post.

“I like to tell people I’m 5-foot-21. When people ask if I play basketball, I tell them I play mini-golf.” Kevin, a former military guy who is now 40 years old, stands 6 feet 9 inches tall and wears shoe size 17. He’s married and lives with his Great Dane and his wife, who is substantially shorter than him.

Being this tall isn’t always simple, but it does have certain benefits. We’re sure Kevin gets troubled by queries about his appearance regularly, but we also know he’s fine with it.
