I’ve noticed that my DIL disappears every night. I challenged her, and she snapped, “Why are you interrogating me?” “Mind your own business.” That night, I stayed awake. Around two a.m., I heard the front door creak open. I looked out the window and noticed her strolling toward the woods behind our house. I waited 10 minutes before following silently.
She moved quickly through the trees and came to a stop at an abandoned shed that I had forgotten was there. I hid behind a tree and watched as my DIL unlocked the shed and entered. Then I heard singing. A gentle lullaby, like a whisper. She remained there till three a.m.

The following morning, I addressed her. After a long pause, she broke down and stated, “That was the song I sang to the baby… the one we lost.” “I go there to remember her.” I felt my heart breaking.
I didn’t realize she had a miscarriage. That night, I put a little candle and fresh flowers in the shed. When she noticed them, she grabbed me firmly and muttered, “Thank you.”
