Last night’s episode of The Voice UK (Stage #112) gave us one of the most emotional performances of the season—20-year-old Kyra Smith’s stunning cover of The Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers.”
From the first note, it was clear this wasn’t just another audition. Kyra, seated in a wheelchair due to a condition called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), delivered a deeply moving rendition that had judges turning their chairs almost instantly. Her voice? Hauntingly soft, but full of strength. The kind of voice that makes you stop what you’re doing and just listen.
What hit even harder was Kyra’s story. She spoke openly about how she had to relearn to sing while sitting down, pushing through pain and fainting spells just to be able to perform. As someone who once couldn’t even stand up, singing like this is nothing short of incredible.
All three coaches—Tom Jones, Danny Jones, and Tom Fletcher—were blown away. And when Sir Tom said her voice was “lovely,” Kyra’s tears told us just how much that moment meant to her.
She chose to join Team Tom & Danny, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. If this performance is anything to go by, Kyra Smith is going to be a name we remember.
