A Family Secret and a Shocking Will

My single sister, 38, cared for our ailing mother for 12 years while I was raising four children. Mom died, so I want her out of the house so that we may sell it and split the proceeds 50/50. But she replied, “You don’t deserve a penny!” “You were not a devoted daughter.”

I ignored her. But when I arrived at the property, the locks had been changed. I noticed a shadow through the window, but I halted when I realized the home was nearly empty. I forced my way in and was horrified to see my sister packing the final box of goods. “What are you doing?” I inquired. She simply grinned and said, “Oh, didn’t I tell you?” “I sold the house.”

I was upset, telling her she should have asked me first because the house belonged to both of us. But then she handed me a document, signed by our mother, saying that she would inherit the entire property. That’s when I realized what had happened: my sister had convinced Mom to give her the entire house.

Smirking, she explained that she had been waiting to see how I would react following Mom’s death. When she saw how quickly I evicted her and sold the property, she concluded I deserved nothing.

The house is legally hers, and I have no method of challenging it. I’m feeling lost. What shall I do?
