In the morning, I found small grains in my bed: I thought it was just rice, but the truth turned out to be much worse

I awoke to find some weird white granules in my bed. My first impression was that my spouse had eaten in bed again, spilling rice or something similar. I was ready to dust them off, but then I decided to look more closely.

The longer I looked, the more a peculiar sense of discomfort rose within me. The “grains” were small, oval, and glossy. Suddenly, I noticed something moving within one of them.

I was horrified. I grabbed my phone and began browsing the internet for information. My heart skipped a beat as I recognized what it was… 😱😱. Be cautious if you discover anything like this in your home… It turns out that they were bedbug eggs. What I learned: Bedbug eggs are around 1 mm long, white, oval, and shiny, and resemble rice grains. The female places them in hidden places, such as mattress seams, behind baseboards, and furniture cracks.

After 6-10 days, the larvae hatch and start feeding on blood. Bedbugs seldom spread diseases, but their bites can cause itching, allergies, skin irritation, and insomnia  Origin: Travelers may accidentally carry them home in their suitcases. They may also arrive with secondhand furniture or goods.
