After narrowly missing out on the live shows in 2013, Paul Akister returned to The X Factor UK in 2014 determined to prove that he deserved another chance. The talented singer had previously made it to Judges’ Houses, but Louis Walsh decided not to take him through to the live stages.

This time, Paul came back with renewed confidence and delivered a powerful audition that impressed the judges. His performance of John Lennon’s Jealous Guy earned strong praise, while his arena audition of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On received four yeses.

Paul eventually made the live shows as part of Mel B’s boys category. His journey ended in Week 5 after a dramatic sing-off against Jay James, with the result going to deadlock and the public vote sending Paul home.
