“When Generosity Turns Into Entitlement”

A man had been kindly giving a beggar $1,000 each month for a long time. One day, he reduced the amount to $750. The beggar was surprised but thought, “It’s still better than nothing,” and walked away.

The next month, the man gave only $500. This time, the beggar couldn’t hold back and said, “You used to give me $1,000, then $750, and now just $500! What’s going on?” The man sighed and explained, “When I started giving you money, I was financially stable, and my kids were young. But my daughter started university, and tuition is expensive, so I had to reduce it to $750. Now my son is in college too, and my expenses have increased, so I can only afford $500.”

The beggar frowned and asked, “How many children do you have?””Four,” the man replied. The beggar scoffed and said, “And you think you can send them all to college with MY money?!” It’s funny how some people begin to view generosity as an entitlement rather than a gift.
