From YouTube ideas to constructing a Unimog tiny house conversion The story of the Unimog tiny home conversion began unexpectedly with a YouTube show. During lockdown, Kyla and Louis watched a program that fueled their desire to create a tiny house. “Well, funny story: during lockdown, we watched your program on YouTube. “We decided to build a tiny house.” Kyla recounted.

Initially, the pair considered building a stationary home in New Zealand. However, their zest for adventure quickly changed their plans. “So we thought we’re going to go on a road trip around New Zealand, we’ll figure out where we’re going to build and then we’ll build,” according to Kyla. Their route changed when they spotted a similar project in Australia, which inspired their Unimog tiny home conversion concept.

“And then it just sort of evolved into putting a house on the back of a truck because we saw one in Australia that looked very cool. We were thinking, ‘That’s wonderful,'” Kyla explained. Their concept eventually grew into a mobile home built on the back of a military vehicle, which was excellent for their active lifestyle.
