Being cheated on is one of the most devastating things for anyone in a relationship to experience. In many cases, the betrayed partner doesn’t see it coming and the shock can knock the wind out of them. An equally, or perhaps more, the heartbreaking scenario is when the woman being cheated on is carrying the couple’s child.

It’s not uncommon for men to cheat on their wives while they’re expecting a child. According to Dr. Scott Haltzman of Brown University Medical School, this condition occurs far more frequently than many people believe. He admitted that estimating the cost would be challenging. He explained that such indiscretions are frequently not reported.

A woman has her baby alone

A pregnant Sarah Burgess was excited to welcome her new baby with her partner Peter O’Neill. Sarah said that she immediately fell for Peter when they met while dog-walking. After chatting and asking for her number, he invited her for drinks the very next day.

The relationship quickly became serious and Sarah soon found out she was pregnant. She explained that, while it wasn’t planned, Peter was very happy about it and promised to be there for her. True to his word, he was there at every appointment and even excitedly bought baby stuff.

Things were going perfectly well until a few days before her due date. Sarah said she just couldn’t reach Peter. He didn’t return her calls or texts and she had no clue what had happened to him. She was very worried and even called his mom who simply told her that Peter had been dealing with work.

Nine days before her due date, Sarah went into labor at which time Peter was yet to return. Three days after their son was born, the dad turned up with excuses that his phone was broken and he had been very busy. Even though he tried to pretend to be the perfect daddy, Sarah was still suspicious about where he had been. She looked through his Facebook friends and found a woman who posted pictures from her trip to Dubai with Peter.

Peter hadn’t vanished; he’d been on vacation with another woman. Rat from the desert! Sarah ended her relationship with him right away and decided to embrace life as a single mother. Is it possible for a couple to withstand infidelity?

While Sarah chose to quit her relationship with her unfaithful boyfriend, other couples go the opposite route. If you decide to stay with a cheating partner, there are a few things you can do to help the relationship heal.

It’s important that you and your partner become transparent with each other. You can also seek help from a professional to help you heal and attempt to get to the root of the cheating. The process won’t always be smooth, and easy but if you both believe in the relationship, it’s possible to recover from infidelity.
