The past conceals many secrets and mysteries that are impossible to be unraveled. One of these secrets has been tormenting humanity since 1964, and so far no one has a reliable idea of what happened. Jim Templeton worked as a fireman in Carlisle (Cumberland, England) and was fond of local history and photography. One day, he, his wife, and his five-year-old daughter went to Burger Marsh!

According to Jim’s recollections, there were no people at the marsh that day. They saw only a few elderly women, but they didn’t meet them face to face. Templeton asked his daughter to pose in the charming scenery and took three shots. To his surprise, when he developed the photographs, he saw that his daughter wasn’t alone in one of the frames.

Behind her back was a monster with the silhouette of an astronaut. Jim was both surprised and terrified. He was certain that no one was standing behind the girl when he took the photos. Templeton went to Carlisle police with a photograph, which he later sent to a local newspaper. Even though the police said they didn’t find anything unusual in the shot, it created quite a stir in the press! The photographs were promptly printed in subsequent publications.

Despite the fact that the photograph has been in the public domain for 40 years, Jim has received thousands of letters from people all over the world. They wrote to him with their theories about what might be in the photograph. Despite some mysticism, the major (and most rational) story is that Jim’s wife, the daughter’s mother, was there in the background. The photographer may have just neglected to notice how his spouse moved into the shooting range while snapping shots and gazing through the lens.

If you darken the image slightly, the figure in the backdrop resembles a person with a bob hairstyle. Furthermore, the stranger’s garments became light blue, the same hue as Mrs. Templeton’s dress that day. For more than 55 years, there has been no convincing explanation to this conundrum. Furthermore, Jim was certain until the very end of his life, claiming that no one could have been in the background at that time. If he is correct, it does become a little creepy.
