Chinese couple Liang Zifu and Li Suying got married 60 years ago. At that time they had neither money nor housing. They could not afford to buy a house or an apartment, and they did not pull the rent financially.
Therefore, the couple built a family nest in a cave. Under the stone arches there is a bedroom, a kitchen and a living room. Over time, they got used to farming — chickens and pigs.
They usually ate fruits and vegetables. In a neighboring village, clothes and other necessities were exchanged for pork and eggs. There were soon children in the household, whom Li gave birth to in the cave.
When the provincial government learned about this family, it offered them an apartment in the city where their children also live, but the 86-year-old husband and his 81-year-old wife declined.
They claim to have become accustomed to living in caves for decades. When the boys and daughters reached adulthood, they migrated to the city, while their parents remained. They appreciate silence and isolation. As a result, they do not want to ruin the marital idyll.
