A drumstick ice cream cone is the only dessert that brings back memories of my childhood. Though I’ve grown up and no longer chase after the ice cream truck or sit on the scorching, scratchy concrete by the public pool, I still enjoy them on occasion. …I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t adore them, and my affection for them has only grown since I first met them!
This combination of sweet and smooth vanilla ice cream, crunchy sugar cones, peanuts and a hard chocolate shell is exactly what you should be serving to your friends, so take it from there. For dessert, I have a Drumstick Ice Cream Pie in honor of you. All I know is that when I think of a drumstick cone, the rest of the ice cream novelties fade into the background.
Because of how good it is to bite through a hard chocolate shell studded with peanuts and reveal creamy vanilla ice cream beneath, I have no idea what else to think of right now. However, I doubt I need to remind you… you already know about the acclaim. Sugar cone crumbs and melted butter are all you need to make this pie’s crust.
Then, there’s a layer of melted chocolate and cream that gets spread over the crust – that approximates the fudgy chocolate that fills the bottom of the cone. The ice cream layer? Well, all you have to do there is buy a tub of ice cream, let it thaw enough that you can spread it out in the pie, and then pop the whole thing back in the freezer. While you can absolutely use some storebought Magic Shell as the topping, it’s very easy to make your own.
You just heat some chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave and you’ve got it! When you pour it over the cold ice cream, the coconut oil hardens back up and it creates that delightful hard shell of chocolate. And of course, it wouldn’t be a “drumstick” without the peanuts – just get them on fast before that topping hardens up!
