When we eat at a restaurant, we are effectively putting our diet in the hands of a stranger. While it is true that most chefs are quite professional, and wouldn’t do anything, what about the rest. Not all of us are savvy enough to notice what is present in our food. On the other hand, there are people in the service industry who wouldn’t mind going out of their way to help someone!
The stories of such individuals can be quite a harsh pill to swallow for those who believe the youth of today to be misguided. Especially in the case of 18-year-old Evoni Williams, whose selfless nature was made a photo of by a client. This photo was then shown to the customer was dealing with. To put things in context, Williams had noticed that an elderly individual had stepped into the restaurant. The elderly man was clearly struggling- with an oxygen tank attached.
Williams decided to intervene after observing him fussing over his food, attempting to cut it. According to Laura Wolf, the patron who took the photo, “she took his plate and began cutting up his ham without hesitation.” Needless to say, such selflessness is unheard of in the service industry. That is why she decided to post it on Facebook. Here’s the image: When discussing the incident, Williams mentioned Adrien, the elderly man who clearly struggled to eat his food:
“He said, ‘My hands aren’t working too well.'” He required my assistance in cutting his food. And so I did.” Adrien, who is 78 years old, confirmed this. “My hands aren’t up to the task.” If I want to cut my meat, I appear to be stabbing it.” Williams and Adrien had no idea the photo was being taken by Laura Wolf. “This may seem small to you, but I’m sure it was huge to him,” Laura Wolf continued.
“I’m grateful to have witnessed this act of kindness and caring at the start of my day, especially since everything in this world appears to be so negative.” Evoni Williams believes the photo brightened her day. As it stands, the photo went viral just a week after the incident. Evoni Williams’s kind gesture was rewarded by the City of La Marque with a sweet surprise of their own. “I got my own day,” Williams said. And we don’t have to tell you how significant that is. It would be a big deal for any teenager to have her own day in the calendar that isn’t her birthday.
