The couple woke up 45 minutes later feeling refreshed and grateful.Everyone knows that new parents are sleep deprived. No matter how many baby books tell you to sleep when the baby’s sleeping, the interrupted sleep pattern will do a number on anyone. These two parents from Columbus, Georgia, are no exception. First-time parents Cindhi and Ross Davis were on two hours of sleep when they arrived at Simply Joyful Moments Photography with their newborn son, Theodore.
“It was the first time I’d been out of the house since the hospital. I was so excited I got to wash my hair and put on normal clothes,” Cindhi told TODAY Parents. The former teacher, 37, was also looking forward to watching photographer Sarah Jankowski work her magic. But Cindhi was just so tired. She and her husband also happened to spot a very comfortable and irresistible couch.First Ross spotted the cozy perch and said he would sit down for a moment to rest.
Cindhi then joined him with the express purpose of watching the photo shoot. “I remember leaning into my husband and saying to myself, ‘I’m just going to sit here and watch the shoot.'” Cindhi told Today Parents, “That was my last thought.” Both parents were out like a light in a matter of seconds. Amanda Walker, Jankowski’s assistant, took a photo of the Davises falling asleep, and the image quickly went viral on Facebook, receiving thousands of likes and shares.
Jankowski told TODAY Parents, “They just looked so adorably snuggled up and completely out.” “When they awoke 45 minutes later, they were like, ‘We really needed that.'” Jankowski observed that it is not uncommon for mothers and fathers to fall asleep in her studio. “When parents come in, the baby is usually one or two weeks old,” she explained. “I have a white noise machine running, and I keep the room nice and warm.” When you combine all of those factors, you have a recipe for a nice, comfortable nap.”
