Halie Tennant, an Australian teacher, had her life flipped upside down when she miscarried three months after marrying her husband, Matthew. Halie planned to go camping for one night to try to recuperate from her loss; maybe an evening outside, under the stars, would help. Kenzie, a pal, accompanied her!
Kenzie heard a strange noise outside her tent that night, only to find Halie face-down and unconscious in the bonfire she’d started earlier. While dozing by the fire, Halie tipped out of her folding chair. Kenzie drenched Halie in cold water after pulling her away from the flames. Her companion had been severely burned, but she was still alive.
After being transported to the ICU, Halie was left with burns all over her face and body. She went into a coma and then underwent a series of procedures over the next few months. “If this is too much for you, you may go,” Halie suggested to her husband Matthew. But Matthew wasn’t having it. In the video, you’ll meet Halie and learn how she’s developed a new sense of self, despite the horrible tragedy that brought her here.
