Some individuals are terrified of getting old alone since they will have no one to spend time with after their family members have moved on with their own lives and families. No matter how much we fight it, growing old and ultimately being empty nesters with our spouses when our children start their own families and move away from us is a natural part of life. Tiki Joyner Edwards is lucky to have found someone she can rely on to care for her elderly parents, Trent and Cianne Joyne, who live alone in their old home.

Tiki’s parents live across the street with Romemylion Mitchell, who “checks on them every day and has come to love and care for them dearly.” Romemylion accompany Trent to the store, assists him in shopping for what he needs, and then assists him in carrying the items inside. He also cuts the yard, conducts housework, and does anything else the old couple need.

It’s remarkable that Romemylion still has time to assist his neighbors despite the fact that he’s a busy child with schoolwork, a social life with other teenagers, and many other personal duties. Trent and Cianne were not even required to compensate the 15-year-old for his time or assistance. He is just a selfless young guy who donates his time without expecting or asking for anything in return. Romemylion has become a member of the family as a result of the quantity of time they’ve spent together.

When Tiki’s mother was sent to the hospital for a few months, the young guy came to check on her, and “he burst out weeping and just hugged her close,” Tiki recalled. Romemylion’s tale demonstrates that there are still some adolescents who care about their elders and are caring enough to aid people in need.
