With all the flickering heartbeats in the first ultrasound, Chad says it looked like the Fourth of July. What should have been a joyful occasion for the couple was tinged with fear. Before having the quintuplets, the Kempels had several miscarriages.

The five babies eventually arrived safely, and the couple had to devise a plan to care for their seven children. At this point, Chad considered how he could assist his wife while he was not present, so he devised methods to streamline the feeding to diaper changing process.
