Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches

I went through a significant “ham and cheese party slider” period. Do you remember those small baked sandwiches with Hawaiian bread and melted butter on top? I couldn’t get enough of these for a while and served them at every party. They’re tasty, buttery, and simple to love, so no one was grumbling.

But it’s time to shake things up a bit. Here’s the same idea, but on crackers, so they’re just as buttery and wonderful, but a little smaller. I guess I’m about to go through another serious party sandwich phase. So, what do you require?

Two Ritz sleeves or another butter cracker. (Yes, store brand is perfectly acceptable.) Then came the ham, Swiss cheese, butter, and Dijon mustard, followed by Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, poppy seeds, and minced onion. Doesn’t that make sense? It certainly will.Line a baking dish with half of the crackers and top each with a slice of ham and a slice of cheese. Then add another cracker on top. That is the sandwich portion.

(You could probably guess thus far.)Then there’s the real beauty. Do you remember the butter? You’ve melted it. Then add Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder to taste. Then you pour it all over those delicious cracker sandwiches.Sprinkle with poppy seeds and diced onion, then bake the whole dish. The butter penetrates into the crackers, making them even more buttery and crunchy, the cheese melts, and the onion bits become fragrant… It’s very stunning, believe me. And it’s unquestionably the ideal bite-sized party food.
