He had no idea how essential that photograph was. The folks in the photo are none other than famed bandit Billy the Kid and his gang of Regulators, according to Americana specialist Kagin’s Inc.
This is only the second known photograph of Billy the Kid, and it is the first to include the Regulators. An 1880 photograph of Billy the Kid sold for $2.3 million at auction in 2011. Guijarro’s 1878 photograph is projected to sell for $5 million! The executive director of a new Billy the Kid documentary, “Billy the Kid – New Evidence,” Jeff Aiello, told ABC 30’s Dale Yurong that this shot is “the rarest photograph in the world.” And here’s the best part:
