Kevin Sorbo, 65, is best known for his famous depiction of Hercules in the popular television series “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.” From 1995 to 1999, he immediately ascended to international prominence in this role, which he played for six seasons. Kevin is a devoted husband and father in addition to his professional job. On the set of the 1990s program, he met his wife, actress Sam Sorbo.

At the time, Sam had a recurring part in the cast, and the two worked together. The pair married in 1998 and had three children throughout their marriage: Braeden, Shane, and Octavia Sorbo. Kevin and Sam celebrated 25 years of marriage at the beginning of this year. Kevin had a near-death experience during the peak of his career a year before marrying Sam, and it changed the course of his life. Kevin’s world was flipped upside down the same year the “Andromeda” star and Sam got engaged, while he was still acting in “Hercules:
The Legendary Journeys,” and when he had just landed a role in his first action film. He went through a series of health concerns that almost killed him. Kevin suffered from an aneurysm, which was followed by three strokes. To make matters worse, he nearly lost an arm and had two of his sensory systems compromised. Kevin’s vision and balance were significantly affected, in addition to a persistent ringing in his head.

According to a news outlet, the actor’s condition took years to improve. Opening up about how his health problems began, Kevin said how tingling and freezing sensations ran down his left arm and fingers for months. He went to the gym after returning to America from filming his show in New Zealand, where he felt a strong shooting pain in his arm while doing bicep curls. Kevin then went to his chiropractor, who cracked his neck. When he got back in his car, however, he suffered three strokes:
“I had an aneurysm in my arm, and I believe the neck crack hastened the aneurysm…I believe, as do a few other doctors, that when he made that motion, it caused the blood clots that were flowing downstream to move upstream…and into my brain…”Kevin said that he was afraid he would die after his vision and balance were damaged and he could barely walk. He expressed his anger calmly, which triggered idea that he would never marry Sam and have children.

Kevin’s work schedule was altered as a result of his significant health concerns. His time on set was decreased from 14 to 1 hour every day. He stated it took three years for him to feel like his old self again, and another two years for the humming sound in his head to go away. Sam, being the dedicated girlfriend that she is, remained by Kevin’s side throughout his health issues. Surprisingly, the “Let There Be Light” singer shared about his wife remaining with him at his most difficult times:
“…In fact, she said she doubted we would have continued together if I hadn’t had the strokes. Because of my life – my career and the craziness that goes with it. I was more married to [“Hercules”] than to anything or anyone…”When asked about his opinion of what happened to him, Kevin stated that his strokes strengthened him and fueled his efforts to toughen up his toughness both mentally and physically. He also mentioned being more patient and having a better understanding of individuals who suffer from health issues and impairments.
Kevin and Sam decided to launch their own production firm after being rejected by the entertainment industry. Another essential aspect he mentioned when discussing his hardest hour was his religion. Although he acknowledged to being upset at God at first, wondering why such dreadful things were happening to him, especially in his prime, Kevin realized: “…with God I finally got to a point where I was told by a couple of people that I had to look at it as a gift…”
