The woman only had 15 minutes with the child before giving him up for adoption. She didn’t think she’d ever see her son again. However, an unexpected phone call from a stranger changed everything.
Brenda Van Sykle of Texas gave birth to her first kid when she was just 16 years old. She sat with her son for around 15 minutes before handing him over to a nurse, who brought him to the department for rejected children. Brenda had always believed that she had done the right thing after what happened to her in 1975. She was too young and inexperienced, and she would not have been able to raise a child without the help of her family.
But she never felt bad about what she had done. Brenda married a few years later, got a position on television, and then continued her work with the Arlington Police Department’s public relations department. Her life continued on as usual until one day the home bell rang. “My name is Wes Fenner, and I’m calling you from New Orleans,” said the stranger. The man then started asking Brenda intimate questions regarding the events of 45 years ago. Despite the fact that the talk was strained and weird, the woman consented to meet with the caller.
Brenda was standing in the hotel parking lot two weeks later, prepared to meet a stranger when she heard, “Mom, it’s me.” The woman was scarcely able to stand. Tears fell down her cheeks. In front of her stood a man who resembled herself. It was like seeing a younger version of herself in a mirror. For around 20 minutes, the son and mother hugged and stood there. Brenda wiped the tears from Wes’s cheeks, still unable to believe her eyes.
They then began conversing and couldn’t stop for hours. Brenda had previously attempted to locate her son but had been unable to obtain any information about him. Only the date and location of birth were provided. It was also difficult for Wes to locate his biological mother, especially after 45 years. He hadn’t dared to do this in decades because he didn’t know what to say to her when they met.
Every year, approximately 100,000 children in the United States are placed for adoption. In Texas, there is a common register where children and their biological parents can be found. Wes, on the other hand, took a genetic blood test, and his DNA data matched another person in the database, which turned out to be Brenda. Brenda and Wes still have a lot to learn about one another. The guy’s life went smoothly.
He was raised in a lovely and caring household, had an education, and now works for a huge bank. Wes is married with a nine-year-old kid, whom he intends to present to his grandmother shortly. Mom and son discovered they had a lot in common. They enjoy the same music and movies. They all laugh at the same jokes, and Brenda always says, “Oh, yes, this is my baby.” Brenda and Wes’ accidental meeting marks the start of their new journey together.
