On a cold and rainy evening in Michigan, a three-year-old child escaped from her room and ended out in the street. Then something unexpected happened.

All sorts of things might happen while working; it’s all part of the “game.” On some days, things go off without a hitch, while on others, nothing seems to go right. These are just “bad days,” and most workweeks devolve into a boring routine barely worth mentioning. We can guarantee that what occurred to the man in this story is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, unlikely to happen again.

It all happened in a matter of hours. On a cold and rainy evening in Michigan, a three-year-old child escaped from her room and ended out in the street. The small girl was wandering throughout Grand Rapids’ parking lots, interested in who knows what. Her parents had missed nothing. The little girl was terrified and, more significantly, cold because she was wearing only a lightweight T-shirt, her diaper, and a pair of short socks.

Fortunately, a worker observed this “unusual” presence out of the corner of his eye. Gabe Botello was delivering pizzas in that same neighborhood and had just made a delivery in his car when he saved a 3-year-old from the cold. He thought he saw the silhouette of a baby crawling in the street for a split second.

As a responsible father of seven children, he grew concerned and decided to explore the strange circumstances by interrupting his work. And, thankfully, he discovered the small girl near a factory on the other side of the road, hiding between two concrete walls in a loading dock.
