Unfortunately, her country’s rules prohibited women over the age of 42 from pursuing IVF, while other countries only permitted treatment for those under the age of 52. Carolyne persisted and found work in India. She paid £4,500 for the IVF treatment and chose among ten female embryo profiles and six male donors. She fell pregnant after the operation and gave birth to Javed 37 weeks later.

Carolyne’s amazing story drew media attention, and she addressed concerns about becoming a mother at such a young age during an interview. “Javed is a wonderful gift, and I feel extremely lucky,” she said, dispelling any concerns.
