Candy Cane Lush

Not that I’m complaining, but dessert production tends to multiply tenfold during the holidays. However, not everything has to be prepared in an oven or on a stovetop. Certain desserts are so simple to make that you don’t even need a mixer or candy thermometer—let alone a microwave—but you may still have a really festive spread. For example, this Candy Cane Lush.

With layers of rich white chocolate and peppermint and a chocolate cookie crust, it’s a creamy, delectable no-bake treat. Put another way, they are delectable and the ideal holiday treat if you don’t feel like doing a big batch of baking.

The word “lush” conjures up images of anything ornate and sophisticated, yet when it comes to dessert, it simply refers to a rich-tasting, simple layered treat. The amazing, alluring richness is achieved by layering a couple of smooth layers of cheesecake or pudding and whipped topping over a crunchy base of cookies, then chilling the whole thing until it solidifies. Oreo cookies, white chocolate pudding, candy canes, cream cheese, and some whipped topping (Cool Whip, if you’re going with a name brand) are required for this one.

To make the crust, first pulverize the Oreo cookies into crumbs and combine them with melted butter and a small amount of salt. After that, press it into a 9 by 13 pan and refrigerate to solidify while you work on the remaining layers. And layering is everything in this. A combination of cream cheese and candy cane is the following layer. Imagine whipped cream and cream cheese icing that has been kissed by peppermint.

This forms the dish’s base and is spread over the cookie dough.White chocolate pudding is the subsequent layer, and whipped topping completes the arrangement. If you can only locate vanilla pudding at your grocery store, it will work just fine. White chocolate pudding can be a little difficult to obtain. This is quite festive when topped with more crushed candy canes, but if you wanted to go all out, you could also add some white chocolate shavings.

After assembling your layers, refrigerate the entire thing for approximately four hours, or until it solidifies enough to cut. Another option is to freeze it, which results in a stiffer pudding layer but allows you to offer cleaner slices. One of the many wonderful things about lushes is that they can be prepared at least one day in advance of your need. That’s beneficial throughout the year, but it’s especially useful during a busy season!
