Kevin murmured softly, “I’m going to miss Granny,” as he patted the brown spot on Granny’s couch. You might like “This sofa is not rubbish. Kevin murmured, “This is Granny’s memory.”
Dad moaned and curved his lips. “Have you forgotten she ratted me out to Social Services and how she tried to hand you over to that other family?” “Those people aren’t too horrible, and they let me to stay here for a few days for Granny’s funeral. I wish I didn’t have to go back…”I want to live with you,” Kevin said, lowering his head. “Cheer up, kiddo!” Dad laughed slightly and touched Kevin’s hair. “We’ll figure it out!”
Kevin grinned and attempted to hug Dad, but he had already turned away. When Dad arrived home, he took a drink from the fridge and sat in his armchair to watch television. Kevin knew that his father wasn’t as wonderful as his mother, but it still hurt. Kevin had already lost his mother six months before, and now he has lost his grandmother. It became too much for him to take.
Kevin sighed and plopped down on Granny’s couch. Suddenly, he felt something poke him in the back with a sharp object. He put his hand on the seat and exclaimed. He exclaimed, “There’s something inside!” Dad was too engrossed in what he was viewing to hear him. Kevin looked away from Dad and lifted the couch cushion. A torn piece of fabric had been stitched into place in an unprofessional manner. He dashed to the kitchen to grab some scissors and cut the stitches.
A box was inside, with two large words printed on it: “For Kevin.” Kevin grinned when he realized it was Granny’s writing. When he opened the box, he saw a sealed envelope and several folded sheets of court papers. After that, he saw a letter written by Granny. “Dearest Kevin,” the message began. “I regret for pressing you while you’re so young, honey, but your future rests on you making the right decision. “Your father only returned to claim his inheritance.”
Kevin looked at his father, who was still watching TV, before returning to his reading. Not long ago… “Linda? “What are you doing here?” He questioned in an impolite tone as he opened the door to his apartment. “I want to see Kevin. “Where is he?” She inquired as she tried not to gag on the aroma of his old liquor “Uh, I don’t know.” “What day is it now?”
“Tuesday!” When she entered the flat, she was surprised to find dirty clothes, a plastic container, and empty glass bottles all over the floor. She asked Jerry, as he removed a microwaved dinner from the oven, “Have you been feeding him this?” “Mac and cheese is excellent. carbohydrates and milk. “Good for growing and such,” he answered with a shrug.
“Where are Kevin’s toys?” They are not where I can see them. “Today’s kids…They’re more interested in electronics, you know. “Don’t you dare lie to me!” Linda exploded. “I have been giving money to you to ensure that my grandson does not miss out on anything, Jerry. He requires fruits, veggies, and unprocessed meat, not microwaved crap! And I bet he’s stopped coming to the soccer club I pay for since you’re too lazy to drive him there!”
I noticed Jerry roll his eyes. “Okay, Linda, you can’t tell me what to do just because you’re helping us out! I know how to teach my son!” “Granny?” When Linda turned around, Kevin raced over and hugged her tightly. She remarked, “Oh boy, you’re home late!” Kevin glanced at his father and said, “Dad, you said you’d pick me up yesterday, but you never came.”I meant the next day. Quickly finish your work now.”
Linda’s wrath knew no bounds as Kevin departed. “I know what’s going on here, Jerry,” she said, looking him in the eyes. “Pull yourself together or face the consequences.” “I won’t sit idly by while you fall apart or allow you to drag my grandson down with you,” she threatened him as she departed. Weeks passed by. Linda was seated in the lobby of her care home’s main building when Nurse Denise walked by. She summoned Jane to come in.
Linda approached the woman and asked, “Do you need help?” Linda replied, “Darling, I need a big favor,” and Denise sat down next her. “I went to Social Services to get my son-in-law’s parental rights taken away.” He hasn’t been caring for my grandson Denise. He merely wants the money that I and the state will provide him. You’ve wanted to adopt for a long time. “Please adopt my grandson,” Linda said, placing her hand on Denise’s.
After hearing Linda’s story, Denise finally gathered the courage to speak. “La Linda, my God. Denise expressed her excitement and nervousness at the prospect of Kevin joining their family. I’m confident my hubby will feel the same way.”Thank you, darling. Cindy sobbed, “Then I’ll talk to my lawyer.” “Oh, you removed a major concern from my mind. Thanks so much. Thanks very much.”
“You don’t know,” Denise whispered through her tears, “you’ve given me the best gift of all: a child to love.” “Thank you should come from me.” “Kevin, this is your room!” Are you okay with this?” While Linda tried to predict Kevin’s reaction, Kevin gazed around the room that Denise and her husband, Miguel, had prepared for him. The boy responded, “It’s nice.” “Well, we can always change the decor if you don’t like it,” Miguel informed his wife, who appeared stressed.
“Let Kevin have some time to live in the room before making big decisions,” she said. After that, she stared at Kevin. She said, “I know it’s weird, dear, but give them a chance.”
Kevin turned around and raced out the front door. Linda tried to talk to him, but he didn’t respond. Linda was really furious at Kevin’s behavior that night as she made her bed. She thought Miguel and Denise would make far better parents than Jerry.
Lina’s phone rang unexpectedly, waking her up. “Is everything OK, Denise?” Linda asked as she picked up the phone. “No, Linda,” Denise responded over the phone. “Kevin is not here! I went to check on him and see if he wanted a treat. I looked everywhere! “I believe he escaped!” “Good Lord,” Linda yelled. “Dear, I believe I know where he went.” Don’t worry. I will get him back for you.
Cindy arrived at Jerry’s door with Mrs. Jamerson, Kevin’s caseworker. Kevin was in the room, just as Linda expected. “Does it bug you to see all your clever plans come to nothing?” Jerry smiled, his back to the kitchen counter, as Mrs. Jamerson brought Kevin aside to speak with him. “No matter what you do, Linda, Kevin will keep running back home to his dad, where he belongs!”
Jerry’s eyes were filled with avarice, not the anguish of a man dealing with his wife’s death or the love of a devoted parent. She then noticed his brand-name attire, the large, new television, and something beneath the television that appeared to be a brand-new game system. She knew Jerry was simply after money. He wasn’t concerned about Kevin at all.Linda grumbled and retrieved the checkbook from her bag. “I think I know how to get you to do the right thing, Jerry.” “$50,000, and you leave Kevin alone.”
Jerry scoffed. “Come on, Linda. You can do better. Try $300,000 and we’ll see.” “But I don’t have that kind of money!” “Guess you don’t value your grandson as much as you pretend to,” he went on to say. He fell into his couch, saying, “I’ll see you the next time he comes home running.” Kevin came out of the bedroom, followed by Mrs. Jameson. Jerry patted his shoulder and didn’t look away from the TV as he bid farewell with tears in his eyes.
“I had to do this, honey,” the letter continued, “to find out who your father really is.” The documents in this box state that Jerry may receive all of my money as long as he does not approach you. They are false, although Jerry is unaware of this. “Send them to him.” If he breaks them, you know he is more concerned with you; if he employs a lawyer, you know you are safe and loved with Denise and Miguel.
Kevin returned Granny’s letter to the box and collected the court papers. Fear caused his heart to race as he watched his father watch television. He had doubts, despite his desire not to accept them. “Hi, Dad!” Kevin strode across the room, holding out the documents. “These were in Granny’s couch,” I blurted out. “These are for you.” A grumpy Dad said something and took Kevin’s papers. As he read the contract, the man started to smile.
“Kevin, I’m leaving.” Kevin’s concerns were realized as Dad leaped up from his chair and walked to the door. He initially suspected that Dad’s departure after reading those papers was an error. Kevin followed Dad for a few blocks till he entered a very fancy-looking building. It was a lawyer’s office. Kevin wiped away his angry tears as he walked back to his flat. Granny claimed that Dad loved money more than he loved him.
After an hour, Kevin knocked on Denise and Miguel’s door and rang the bell. “What about Kevin?” When Denise opened the door, she scowled with concern. “Is everything okay?” We did not expect you to return for two more days. Kevin took a sniff. “My father is not…”I just…” “Hey,” Denise replied, kneeling down and placing her hands on his shoulders. “That is OK. “I know things have been hard for you.” Kevin looked up at Denise and grinned through his tears. He hadn’t felt so loved since his mother died. He was grateful that Granny had asked such caring people to care for him.
