Like a lot of other parents, Tao Xie and Nicole Sun looked for things to do with their 3-year-old while the new coronavirus lockdown was going on. They put their daughter Brigitte through online piano classes through Zoom because Nicole plays the piano a little. It was clear to Brigitte’s teacher, Felicia Feng Zhang, right away that she is very good at tickling the ivories.
She told Brigitte that she “learned more in six months than most people do in a year of lessons.” The girl learned quickly how to read classical songs and read sheet music by sight. In Greenwich, Connecticut, Brigitte started going to lessons in person when it was safe to do so. After a year, everyone in Brigitte’s circle knew they had a child genius on their hands!
“In the beginning, I didn’t think she would be a genius or anything,” her happy dad said. “Well, it looks like it’s pretty cool.”Felicia said, “Brigitte came to me when she was just two months shy of three years old.” “I saw that she is interested in learning and loves to do it from the lessons.” This is what we call desire.
There was no telling how far Brigitte would go in competitions, but her music teacher was eager for her to show off her skills to everyone. Brigitte just won the Elite International Music Competition at the age of 4, making her the youngest winner ever. The prize is a live show at New York City’s Carnegie Hall, which is something that most musicians dream of one day getting.
The only bad thing is that the famous performance hall needs all of its artists to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Since Brigitte is only 4, she is too young to get the shots, so she might not be able to use her gift just yet.We know this little girl is going to do great things, even if she doesn’t make it to Carnegie Hall this year. Brigitte, keep having fun!
