His automobile broke down at night, so he knocked on the door of an elderly woman in her seventies and requested permission to make a phone call. After he ended his conversation, he noticed numerous artworks on the wall and expressed his admiration and fascination for them. He inquired whether she had attempted to display her works in art exhibitions.

She replied, “No, my late husband said that I am only fit for the house and raising children!” When I was younger, I believed my husband. I did not violate him in order to avoid failure, as he had stated. But I still enjoy drawing and follow his directions to draw only for myself. And the man asked her, Would you let me take some of your paintings and exhibit them to a group of professionals, critics, and gallery owners?

It didn’t matter to her; she agreed. The surprise that changed her life. The paintings sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the old woman, at the age of seventy, was transformed into one of the most famous artists and led a distinguished life. She lived to see her enormous artistic and literary achievements. One of her paintings sold for $1.2 million in 2006.

In 1969, the US government honored her with a postage stamp bearing her name. Do not believe what others perceive in you.
