If I could sing like any singer, it would undoubtedly be Whitney Houston. Whitney had wonderful mentors to look up to, having grown up surrounded by famous voices such as Dionne Warwick and her soul-singing mother, Cissy Houston. That, plus her unique, God-given voice, which she developed and honed for years. While she may have had some assistance, she established her own legacy on her own terms.
Whitney is a rare find that no one else can equal. Having said that, her challenging melodies and one-of-a-kind voice are generally regarded as the ideal platform for other aspiring vocalists to showcase their own potential. Both adults and youngsters enjoy taking on a Whitney classic.Tyra intended to demonstrate her ability to sing a Whitney song at this young girl’s blind audition for the Voice Kids Netherlands, but she chose a different tune, one that is a little off the main path.
Tyra chose the dramatic and epic song “I Have Nothing” to try to win over the judges. It appears that she made an excellent option. Following her first notes, the three judges lean forward, ready to slam the buzzer at any moment’s notice. Tyra croons on as one judge clutches his heart, his jaw dropping in shock. He’s already sold; he just needs one more push. The other two judges are also smitten, moving from side to side as Tyra confidently sings her heart out on the pitch.
She approaches the bridge, and all three judges are waiting for her to hit that single high note on the first line of the chorus. Will she get it or crack? Can she nail it like Whitney? The one judge makes a hand gesture to indicate to the others that this is what he is waiting for. This one note will determine whether or not she moves on in the competition.
They are all waiting for Tyra to hit it, and just as she does, she hits it out of the park! Tyra hits that crescendo with force, and everyone crashes down and turns around to confront this angelic voice. They are all quite thrilled with her abilities and eager to take her to the next level. Tyra may have taken a chance with this mature song, but it appears like it paid well. She truly shown her versatility with this one.
