We’re talking about refrigerators. The primary objective of refrigerating foods is to remove heat from them, lower their temperature, and keep them fresher for extended periods. However, some items should never see the insides of a refrigerator.
1. Cooked rice. In a film, the National Health Service of the United Kingdom demonstrated how refrigerating rice can lead to food illness. Rice should not be stored in the refrigerator for longer than 24 hours.
The optimal time to refrigerate rice is two hours. However, long-term refrigeration can promote the growth of certain molds. Reheating rice several times increases the risk.
2. Onion. Onion is resistant to low temperatures. When you refrigerate it, the starch converts into sugar and attracts mold. People frequently have the practice of cutting half an onion and storing the other in the refrigerator.
Never do this because it will begin to collect all of the harmful germs and mold from its surrounds. When someone is sick at home, we take a slice of onion and place it in a corner of the room to collect all of the harmful bacteria from the surroundings.
3. Garlic. Garlic is best stored unpeeled at room temperature. Refrigeration can encourage mould growth. Eating mould may cause nausea, stomach trouble, vomiting, diarrhea, respiratory issues, and liver damage. Garlic’s vital oils and nutrients are reduced when stored in the refrigerator, making it less delicious.
4. Ginger. When refrozen, it quickly becomes moldy, which has been related to renal and liver damage. Do not store it in the refrigerator. Ginger, as a herb, is a highly healthy ingredient. Consuming ginger is supposed to reduce fermentation, constipation, and other causes of bloating and intestinal gas. It’s also high in antioxidants.
