On May 26, 2022, Ray Liotta, 67, died in his sleep. Initially, the cause of Ray Liotta’s death was unknown. One year later, in May 2023, TMZ got records detailing Liotta’s death. According to the investigation, Ray Liotta’s death was “natural and nonviolent.” He died from a variety of health conditions, including “respiratory insufficiency, pulmonary edema — a.k.a. fluid in his lungs — and acute heart failure.”
According to the records, Liotta had atherosclerosis, a condition in which the arteries enlarge due to plaque buildup in the inner lining. Atherosclerosis is known to cause diabetes, blood clots, and other health concerns.Police claimed they received a call shortly before 6 a.m. on May 26th and proceeded to the hotel where Liotta was staying with his fiancée Jacy Nittolo.
Unfortunately, emergency responders were unable to save his life at that point. Nittolo later went out about her devastating loss on Instagram, writing, “My life these past few years has been nothing short of genuinely beautiful. Ray and I have a profound affection that I will treasure forever.” Martin Scorsese, director of Goodfellas, also responded to the news, saying, “I’m absolutely shocked and devastated by Ray Liotta’s sudden, unexpected death.”

Playing Henry Hill in Goodfellas was a tall order because the role had so many distinct facets and deep layers, and Ray appeared in nearly every scene of a long, difficult shoot. He completely amazed me.”Ray Liotta received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in February 2023.
“Ray Liotta’s all-around career made him a triple threat, and his death was tragic for the entertainment industry,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “The characters he portrayed will always be etched in Hollywood’s film history.” That same day, Elizabeth Banks’ picture Cocaine Bear opened, starring Liotta in one of his final film roles.Ray Liotta developed a lasting career that most actors can only dream of, with over 60 films in his collection, countless acting honors, and roles in TV shows and Broadway productions.
