Adam neglected his mother once he moved out on his own and did not see her for several years. When he went to fetch some documentation from her house one day, he found it entirely wrecked and vacant. Diana Evans raised Adam by herself. Despite her challenges, she worked hard to provide for him and his education. Following graduation from high school, he decided to attend a university halfway across the country.
Diana, despite her anguish, was pleased to send Adam to live and study in New York while she remained in California. He would contact his mother whenever he had time, and they stayed in touch over his first few years there. Diana never got to see Adam while he was a college student in New York. Their primary mode of communication was phone calls, which Diana treasured much even though they became less in quantity with time.
Adam called his mother to extend an invitation to celebrate his upcoming university graduation. He said over the phone, “Hey, mom!” “Hi, Adam! It’s nice to hear from you! “How’ve you been?” She stated it enthusiastically. “Mom, I’m okay! I’m phoning because in two weeks, I’ll finally get my diploma. Are you available to see us?” He inquired. Diana felt her eyes well up as she heard that.

She was full with pride. She would stop at nothing to see her adored son march in for his graduation. “Obviously, Adam.” Yes, I’ll be present. I would not be without it! I am very delighted for you.” She grinned. Diana picked up the phone and began looking for tickets to New York. She was astonished to learn how expensive the tickets were, and she realized she wouldn’t be able to afford both a round-trip ticket and a unique graduation gift for Adam.
She decided to work as a babysitter to supplement her income. To earn more money faster, she stayed up late babysitting newborns. She quickly purchased her ticket and proceeded to the department shop to buy Adam a gift once she had saved enough money. Diana took a few minutes to go around the store before sitting down to glance at her watch. She wanted to give her child a watch because she recognized that a professional requires one.
“Wrap it up nice and pretty with a ribbon,” she told the salesperson. My son got it as a graduation present. “Please wrap it nicely with a ribbon,” she instructed the sales lady. “This is a graduation gift for my kid. “He’s graduating from a top university in New York,” she exclaimed. “That’s fantastic!” How proud you must be. Many Congratulations!” “That’s amazing! You must be quite proud. Congratulations!” The saleswoman remarked this as she packed the watch.

After a few days, Diana gladly headed to New York. After picking her up from the airport, Adam drove her to his college, where the graduating ceremony was about to begin. Diana got out her phone with tremendous anticipation and started taking pictures. When it came time for Adam to receive his graduation, she had to stand up and cheer herself crazy. She exclaimed, “That’s my son!”
Adam hugged Diana when they met during the wedding. They hugged and she screamed, “Oh, son, congratulations!” “Thank you, Mom.” “You’re the reason for everything,” he said, grinning. “Thank you, Mom. “It’s all because of you,” he said, smiling. “Let’s have a good dinner now,” he said, strolling with his mother to the campus exit.

Adam and Diana had a fantastic dinner together at a posh steakhouse in New York. Diana was initially anxious about the bill, but Adam convinced her that she shouldn’t be. “Mom, I started working part-time to pay for my studies. This is my gift to you. Adam and Diana enjoyed a great supper together at a sophisticated New York steakhouse. Diana was concerned about the bill at first, but Adam urged her not to worry.”I obtained a part-time job while studying, Mom.
This is my gift to you. “Thank you for taking care of me all these years,” he replied, clutching her hand. Diana had begun crying. She was quite grateful that Adam had grown into such a gentleman. Her comments, “I’m proud of you, son,” indicate that I also have something for you. Diana was in tears. She felt pleased that Adam grew up to be such a kind guy. “I’m proud of you, son,” she stated. “I’ve got something for you too. It’s not fantastic, but I hope you enjoy it.”

She handed Adam the gift box after pulling it out. He remarked, “You really didn’t have to get me anything, mom,” before opening it. He was astounded to discover that it was a watch. “Mum,” this is really wonderful. “I’m grateful,” he said, beaming brightly. I plan to wear this to work every day. He was shocked to see it was a watch. “This is gorgeous, Mom. “Thank you,” he said, smiling broadly. “I’ll wear this to work every day. That way, you’ll always be with me.
The mother and son talked, took pictures, and simply enjoyed the sights of New York together that evening. Diana had to fly back to California after spending a few days in New York. She asked, “Will you be visiting home soon, Adam?” She suddenly realized she was back to living alone. “I’ll do my best, mama. I’m not sure when I’ll get there because I have some scheduled job interviews. “But I’ll call you,” he told her. “I will try, Mom.
I have some job interviews scheduled, so I’m not sure when I’ll get to them. “I promise to call,” he reassured her. Diana nodded contentedly. Unfortunately, that promise did not endure very long. Adam used to communicate with his mother once every two days, but this steadily dwindled and then stopped. Diana was depressed during one of their last discussions, which she attributed to her loneliness. She’d say, “I don’t really have an appetite, and I’ve lost a lot of weight.”
“Mom, you should eat. Diana showed signs of melancholy during one of their final contacts. “I’ve lost a lot of weight and don’t really have an appetite,” she would say. For many years, Adam would periodically contact his mother to see how she was doing, but these chats were becoming increasingly infrequent due to his hectic work on Wall Street and relationship with his model girlfriend.

He decided to create his own business in New York someday. That required documents from California, which he couldn’t simply ask his mother to send. He flew home at the last minute and made his way to their house without informing his mom. He came, but what he saw stunned him. Their ruined, spider-web-filled house was demolished. The grass lawn appeared to have not been maintained in years, and the fences were scattered across the ground.
When he peered inside, he found the place unoccupied save for some damaged furniture. Adam contacted his mother after that, but she did not answer, so he walked next door and asked the neighbor what had happened. He said, “Hi, Mr. Green,” as soon as their long-time neighbor answered the door. “Adam? “Is that you?” He inquired. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m Mr. Green. Where’s Mom? “Whatever happened to our house?” He said this while feeling guilty and afraid. “Oh, remember the storm that hit California a few months ago? Our homes were seriously damaged. “Your mother didn’t have enough money to repair it, and she didn’t want to burden you, so she moved to a nursing home,” Mr. Green explained.
“What? “Why am I unaware of all of this?” Adam answered with horror. He asked, “Where is her nursing home?” He quickly received the address and made his way there. When he arrived, he found Diana weak and confined to a wheelchair. When he saw her, he yelled out, “Mom,” in tears. “Adam? Why are you in this place? Diana inquired. “Mom, I apologize for not paying enough attention to you.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me the most,” he murmured, kneeling in front of his mother’s wheelchair. He was sobbing, feeling horrible about having abandoned his mother for years. “Adam, stop being foolish. “Get up from there,” she said, attempting to raise her kid. He shook his head and clutched to her knees, and Diana couldn’t stop crying. She thought she’d never see Adam again, but seeing him there, in person, pleading for forgiveness, made her feel both touched and relieved.
“Mom, I really apologize.” “You’re never alone again,” he said, swinging his head. “I’m going to live with you, and I’m going to take care of you,” he told me. Adam truly kept his word this time. He moved his mother out of the assisted living facility once their former home had been totally rebuilt. In addition, he invited his fiancée to move in with them after deciding to start his business in California rather than New York.
Since then, the three have lived contentedly together. The pair looked after Diana and made sure she was happy once more. Diana aided Adam and his girlfriend with household chores and supper preparation while they were at work.
