She was the first woman to get one of the most important parts in the Batman franchise. She portrayed Catwoman on the 1960s Batman television series.

She was recently seen in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 15, this year. During her public appearance, she used a motorized scooter. She was wearing gray sweatpants, soft slippers, and a blue button-up shirt. She also wore a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun away from her eyes. The 91-year-old is rarely seen out in public. She is active on Instagram. On May 13, she shared photos of flowers blooming with the description, “Our most glorious garden yet.”

Earlier this month, she shared a video of herself as Catwoman, starring alongside Adam West from 1966 to 1968. She appeared in 13 episodes but was well-liked for her role on the show. “I was depressed until I saw what others had said about me in the comments area. Oh My!!” Newmar commented beside a snapshot of her footage from her time as Catwoman.
“She’s amazing,” one of the video’s top comments stated. “I adored her as a child, and as an adult, I can recognize her hilarious talent. “What an incredible presence ❤️.” “Julie Newmar is by far my favorite Catwoman!” another individual wrote. “She had such a mesmerizing presence everytime she was on screen ❤️.” She is rarely seen out and about. In 2024, she was spotted at a fan event, wearing cat ears and signing autographs for her followers. In 2017, she went to the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con and Cat Con.

In a prior interview, she stated: “I’m realizing that through all the shows I’ve done — the television, film and stage — all the mediums I’ve worked in, Catwoman’s costume was the one that allowed me to tell the story through my body.” “The words were brilliant, and funny on top of that,” she said of the role. “The producer hired the proper people to perform all of the lighting, this, that, and the other, at the correct time and in the right decade. “Everything worked.

She also played the role in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs. Two-Face, which were released in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Julie Newmar was the first actress to play the character, but following stars such as Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and others followed suit. Zoë Kravitz was the latest actress to take up the role opposite Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

Newmar’s other credits include another ’60s sitcom, My Living Doll, and an appearance in George Michael’s song video for “Too Funky.” She also appeared as herself in 1995’s To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything!
