The boy screamed at his mother’s grave that she was alive – no one believed him until the police arrived

People began to notice the boy in the cemetery at the beginning of May. He was around ten years old, not older. Every day, he visited the same grave. He would sit on the ground, pressed against the cold stone, and call out to the sky: — She is alive! She is not here! Visitors regarded him with sympathy. Everyone had the same thought: sadness. He just couldn’t accept the loss. He’d eventually accept that his mother was no longer alive.

But a week went by, then another, and the boy kept coming. In any weather. The cemetery caretaker struggled to deal with the daily screaming. He eventually phoned the cops. A young officer has arrived. He stepped up to the boy. — Hello, he replied kindly. The child flinched and looked up. His face was tear-streaked and emaciated, with adult-like eyes.

— Do you know how to identify if someone is breathing underground?—he inquired. The cop was taken aback. — No… That is not what a child should be thinking about.– They said my mother fell asleep at the wheel. But she never got fatigued. Not once!—the youngster murmured. – They did not allow me to say goodbye. The officer examined the burial. The ground had not settled and was still fresh. A shovel lay nearby. — Who told you this?— People she worked for. A man wearing a gold ring and a woman who is always smiling. She smiles even when she is angry.

— Do you know what their names are? The boy said them. The cop jotted them down. Something about his tone compelled the young cop recall the conversation – and report it to his superiors. Soon, an investigation was launched. The boy’s mother, Anna, was an accountant at a prominent pharmaceutical business. She reportedly went missing from work a week before the “accident.” Her employer said she was “overworked,” but then stated she had “died.” The death certificate was signed by the company’s doctor.

There was no viewing during the funeral; the casket was closed. There was no autopsy. The police insisted on the exhumation. The coffin was empty. The case sparked a federal probe. More information emerged: Anna, the boy’s mother, was more than just an accountant. She had gathered a large file on the company’s leadership, including documents, audio recordings, money transactions, and plots. She planned to send everything over to the prosecutor’s office. But someone at work found out.

Then came a surprise twist that even the boy didn’t see coming. On the day she brought the evidence to the station, the police had already received portions of other cases involving the same corporation. A swift decision was made: Anna was placed in the witness protection program. To prevent the company’s leaders from suspecting a leak, they staged her death. The casket had been empty since the beginning.

All evidence was turned over to the court. But the youngster was not told anything since it would jeopardize the operation. He knew only one thing: his mother had not died. And he was correct. Three months after the trial, when the case had been won and the guilty had been arrested, Anna came on the porch of their former home.
