Why Does God Allow Pain and Suffering?

This is one of the genuine questions we constantly ask ourselves. This question is not exclusively posed by atheists. The Torah depicted God as “good,” and we know that God’s purposes are good, yet we watch ourselves suffer. According to the Bible, God loves us; if He loves us, why does He allow us to suffer? There is wickedness in the world now, and many illnesses and diseases are killing people.

We cannot claim that things do not have an impact on Christians. Atrocities done by individuals and regimes all throughout the globe harm Christians as well. Why would God tolerate all of this if He really loved us? God created heaven and earth in the beginning. He saw that everything was wonderful when he made it. Life was flawless, and creation was satisfactory. 1:31 Genesis “And God saw all he had created, and it was very good.” And the sixth day was the evening and the morning.”

After creating everything, God chose to create man in His likeness. Everything was wonderful when God created man until sin entered the earth. Sin entered the world via disobedience, and man was cast out of the wonderful existence that God had created. The planet and life have been altered at this stage, and the “perfect” that was tied to creation no longer exist.

According to the Bible, the world has been in suffering as a result of the sin that has entered it. “For we know that the entire creation groaneth and travaileth in anguish jointly till now,” says Romans 8:22. We have sometimes blamed God for awful things that have occurred to us; it gets to the point where we believe it is from God. To begin, we must recall God’s words in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of ill, to give you an anticipated end.”

This is for us to dispel the notion that God was the cause of our pain. God does not allow us to suffer because He has a purpose for us. God gave us the power to choose, and then he gave us two options from which to select. 30:19 Deuteronomy “I command heaven and earth to bear witness this day against you, that I have placed before you life and death, blessing and cursing: choose life, that both thou and thy progeny may live:”

What happens to us is determined by the choices we make. Suffering is the result of sin’s entry into the world, so why did God allow it? God would tolerate pain for a variety of reasons. 1. To understand the worth of a thing. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his plan,” says Romans 8:28. This Bible scripture is not claiming that God puts evil or suffering on anybody, but rather that God is capable of producing good out of people’s suffering if they demonstrate their love for the Lord.

When pain occurs, God may use it to awaken one’s eyes to the worth of His kindness. 2. To be corrected. Allowing pain is one of the ways God corrects His people. We must recognize that God is not interested in the pain of His children, but He does need them to repent. 12:6 (Hebrews) “The Lord chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth for whom he loveth.” We might also conclude from this scripture that God can allow pain to express His love. There will be no words of consolation if there is no pain.

God provides us the discipline to help us develop to the point of maturity in Christ. James 1:2-4. 3. Suffering serves as a reminder of eternity. 8:18 in the Bible “For I believe that the sufferings of this present moment are nothing in comparison to the glory that will be revealed in us.” This is Paul speaking about his tribulations, which caused him to consider eternity. God permits hardship in order for us to think about paradise. We don’t want to go through the pain again, we don’t want to be beaten down by life and feel sad – all of these things cause us to consider paradise.

4. Suffering draws us closer to God. Jesus told the story of the wayward son in Luke 15:11-32. The prodigal son in this parable portrays every child of God who has turned away from God. He squandered the money he received from his father, and then he began to suffer. It was his pain that reminded him of his father. Similarly, our pain draws us to the one one who can assist us and offer us peace.

Jesus spoke the truth about life; he did not lie only to make us happy; he stated we would experience difficulties. John 16:33 “These things I have told to you, so you may have peace in me.” There will be trouble in the world, but be of good cheer; I have conquered the world.” When we meet problems in life, the greatest thing we can do is open our eyes to the teachings they provide. Sometimes we have to go through difficult times in order to prepare for what is to come. As a result, we should be thankful in all situations. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says,
