“We’re discussing a deep channel port. It’s 40 to 50 feet of water with powerful currents. The weather is windy, and the water is frigid. And so we are quite concerned about individuals who are in the water, as well as the bridge collapse.” At 9:00 a.m. EDT, two persons had been rescued from the water. One individual was stated to be in “very serious” condition, while the other was allegedly unharmed.US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated there were “no indications” that the accident was intentional.
